Last weekend we went to Leenderbos which is near Eindhoven in the Netherlands. It was a cold, but sunny day and at days like this… hiking is just really nice.
Our Akita ‘Kensho’ doesn’t need much to be happy. He just needs to be with the people he loves, “the more the better” he seems to think. And don’t try to leave the group, since he’s counting all the time.
Just look at this happy face:

He’s great at posing for the camera. I taught him that. See this great face:

Hi there!
I have been really fascinated by these dogs for a while now and i’m trying to learn all i can about them. It is my hope that i’ll one day be the proud owner of one. I’ve come across some sites saying beware if you want to adopt an akita while you have other pets and other articles of vicious akita attacks, but i for one do not believe in singling out a breed of dog as being more aggressive. All dogs are individuals and any dog is capable of biting or attacking. This blog has so far given me the best and most helpful insight into these dogs so thank you!!
I have two cats and it’s wonderful to see that your pets get along so well. I’m originally from the Netherlands and visit every year but unfortunately where i live now it’s impossible to find these breeds. I’ve checked out your list of recommended breeders in the Netherlands, but i’m not quite sure how i feel about putting a puppy through a process of air travel between two continents. Quite possibly i’d get more stressed out worrying about the dog than the dog itself! Oh well, maybe one day i will be lucky enough to have such a beautiful and intelligent dog as my companion
